Re-accreditation of the University Counseling Center's Internship Program
posted 06/26/2007 by Brandy Furbee

The University Counseling Center is pleased to report that it recently received formal notification that our Pre-doctoral Internship in Professional Psychology has been reaccredited by the Committee on Accreditation of the American Psychological Association.  The reaccreditation is for the maximum allowed period of seven years, and the next accreditation site visit will is scheduled forl 2013.  The reaccreditation process is a lengthy one. The required Self-Study of the internship program was submitted in December, 2005, and, following a preliminary review by the Committee on Accreditation, a formal site visit was conducted in July 2006.  The site visit report and the program's response to that report was included in the final Committee review, and reaccreditation was awarded during the Committee's March 29 - April 1, 2007 meeting.  Accredtitation by the American Psychological Association is an important recognition of the quality of the training program at the University Counseling Center and has been instrumental in attracting  outstanding interns from top graduate programs throughout the United States to Florida State University where they not only continue their training but also provide excellent service to our students.
