Eric A. Weldy was appointed Associate Vice President for Student Affairs on October 9, 2006.

Originally from Peoria, Illinois, Weldy comes to Florida State University with 11 years of professional experience as a full-time administrator and instructor in higher education administration.  He strives to remain student-centered in his focus, while obtaining the knowledge and experience that will allow him to better serve students, as well as his constituency.

Weldy formerly served as Associate Vice Chancellor for Academic Support & Student Life at the University of Minnesota Duluth.  During his tenure, Weldy provided guidance and leadership at the division-level in all strategic planning efforts and major assessment activities.  He also led University efforts to address various student related issues, such as college student drinking and helping to improve campus-community relations.

FSU and the Division of Student Affairs’ commitment toward collaboration as a means of creating a welcoming, supportive and challenging environment for all students made a lasting impression on Weldy.  In his career, he has taken great strides to work jointly with students along with other departments to achieve this purpose.
