Insurance

If your department is planning an event and has questions pertaining to insurance issues, please contact the Event Planning and Permitting Office in the Student Activities Center of the Oglesby Union by phone at 645-7364, or visit their website at www.union.fsu.edu/eventplanning. If your department has further questions regarding insurance issues of any nature, please contact the university's Risk and Insurance Coordinator in the Department of Environmental Health and Safety by phone at 644-6535, or on the web at www.safety.fsu.edu

Additional insurance coverage for an event or to insure furnishings or equipment may be purchased through an outside insurance provider. This purchase and related information can also be obtained through the Risk and Insurance Coordinator.

Outside vendors who provide services to the university are responsible for obtaining their own insurance while on the FSU campus. The insurance requirements are as follows: $1,000,000 for Each Occurence and $2,000,000 for General Aggregate. In addition, if the vendor has four or more employees, they are statutorily required to have Worker's Compensation coverage. Please see the attached example for the outline of basic coverage.

Worker's compensation is in addition. Coverage is statutory and based on payroll of all employees. Usually, the initial coverage for payroll is a lump sum amount for a select amount of payroll then a dollar rate per $100 of payroll after.
