Prepare Leaders for Today and Tomorrow
- The DSA will coordinate student leadership opportunities in a central location.
- The DSA will share leadership responsibility with academic units for the implementation of the goals and objectives of the QEP.
- The DSA will create a conceptual model of leadership development for the FSU students.
- The DSA will develop a student leadership assessment mechanism to longitudinally determine the impact of leadership programs.
- The DSA will secure funding for the Leadership Center and its activities.

Create a Culture of Learning
- The DSA will be a strong advocate for a campus infrastructure that encourages out-of-classroom interaction among the students, faculty and staff (and other behaviors that are evidence of a culture of learning).
- The DSA will empower students to choose enriching out-of-classroom activities that foster positive development.
- The DSA will be a “laboratory” for students to practice skills and to apply knowledge learned in the course of their academic studies.
- The DSA will through its programs and services, intentionally support students’ development of professional and personal skills as listed in the FSU Career Portfolio (communication, creativity, critical thinking, life management, research/project development, social responsibility, teamwork, technical/scientific, and leadership).
- All DSA units will model the values of liberal education, especially open inquiry, democratic decision-making, life-long learning, personal and academic integrity, and acceptance of cultural differences.

Build a Just Community
- The DSA will implement a “Just Community” program that embraces human difference and breaks down the racial, religious, physical, economic and cultural barriers that separate us.
- The DSA will articulate and then build campus consensus around a shared set of values and companion behaviors on which a “just” academic community can be established.
- The DSA will establish a campus culture where students, faculty, and staff are recognized for promoting the ideals of a Just Community in teaching, learning, research and service.
- The DSA will establish a systematic communications strategy that assures the broadest possible engagement and inclusion of students, staff and faculty.

Optimize Organizational Performance
- The DSA will recruit, train and retain staff members who foster a culture of continuous improvement.
- The DSA will enhance delivery of services to students through the use of technology.
- The DSA will improve business processes across organizational boundaries.
- The DSA will emphasize student- and staff-centered campus planning in all facilities that deliver students services.

Maximize Resources
- Each DSA department will show evidence of increasing external support for their respective areas.
- The DSA will have a brand associated with it that will be used for all publications, web sites, etc. to help increase recognition of FSU’s Division of Student Affairs. The brand will be consistent with University Relations’ Communications Plan.
- The DSA with the Inside Connection Campaign will generate substantial support for identified Division goals, leadership initiatives being a top priority.
- The DSA will raise $250,000 in unrestricted funds for the Division annually to support and supplement the DSA budget.
- Seminole Torchbearers will be a viable, healthy and growing organization.
- The Family Fund will work collaboratively with the Parents Association and the FSU Foundation to maximize potential for gifts from parents.

Healthy Campus 2010
- The DSA will increase quality and years of healthy life by assisting Florida State University with the implementation of HC 2010, which will make health objectives a priority.
- The DSA will identify and promote effective programs and strategies, which are evidence based and measurable.
- The DSA will strive to eliminate health disparities for its student population by increasing the focus on minority health, development of cultural competence and sensitivity to the changing campus population as well as responsiveness to public health trends.
- The DSA will collaborate across academic units, administration and student affairs to create a systematic approach to health improvement through policies and interventions, physical environment and social environment.
