New Interim Director of Student Engagement Announced
Danielle Morgan Acosta, PhD, has been named the Interim Director of Student Engagement at Florida State, a new position providing leadership and support to Student Governance & Advocacy (SG&A), Student Organizations & Involvement (SOI) and the Student Life Center (SLC).
"These areas support unique student engagement opportunities across campus, and I'm excited to have them come together to craft a vibrant and intentional student experience driven by belonging, connection, learning, and success," said Dr. Danielle Morgan Acosta.
The Division of Student Affairs Engagement Portfolio focuses on getting students connected from the beginning of their experience at Florida State University through graduation. In addition to the new Student Engagement department, Fraternity & Sorority Life, FSU Childcare, Flying High Circus, Oglesby Union and University Housing are part of the Engagement team. Signature programming and events include: Welcome FSU, Homecoming, and Family Weekend.
"We are excited to have Danielle's leadership in these important areas supporting and advocating for students," said Allison Crume, Associate VP for Student Affairs. "Her innovative and strategic approaches to bringing organizations together will enhance student engagement across campus."
Acosta has served as director of Student Governance and Advocacy at FSU for over five years. She earned her doctorate in higher education administration at Florida State University in 2018 and is an active member of ACPA, College Student Educators, International. Her research and practice interests include leadership and change, student organization advising, student governance, and professional development. She assumes her new role Friday, October 18th.
