Brandon Bowden is the Assistant Vice President for Student Affairs at Florida State University (FSU). Dr. Bowden directly supervises Information Technology, Strategic Planning Assessment, the Center for Academic Retention and Enhancement (CARE), the Center for Global Engagement (CGE) and the Center for Leadership and Social Change (The Center). He also serves as a liaison to Academic Affairs and provides leadership for the university's Black Male Initiative program.
A three time alumnus, Dr. Bowden earned his bachelor's in exercise science from FSU in 2002, his master's in higher education administration from FSU in 2006 and his Doctorate of Education from FSU in 2014. His past experiences include serving as an Interim Dean of Students, Title IX Director, Director of Assessment, an Associate Director of the Oglesby Student Union and a Director of Event Services and Facility Management. Dr. Bowden also has experience in the areas of staff development, events planning, policy development and serving as an adjunct faculty member.
He is an active member of the National Association of Student Personnel Administrators (NASPA), a past member of the College Student Educators International (ACPA) and the Association for College Unions International (ACUI). His research interests include student engagement, Black male persistence, graduate preparation, academic success and minority student retention.
