The FSU Career Center offers an array of comprehensive, innovative, and inclusive services for students and alumni, available through drop-in career advising or from a distance. Recently, The Career Center partnered with Purposely to launch an online hub for employability skill building called The Career Platform.
Available 24/7, this system allows students and alumni to view videos on important career topics such as today’s critical career soft skills, personal branding, job search strategies, networking, and more. While the new platform was adopted to offer additional support to our distance learners, including students at the FSU Panama City Campus, it is available for all FSU students to boost their employability skills.
“We are committed to providing the appropriate tools and opportunities for career readiness to support the graduate success of our FSU students, both on-campus and at a distance,” said Career Center Director Myrna Hoover.
The layout of The Career Platform is designed to walk users through an eLearning series of courses. Each course has a variety of videos, resources, and professional perspectives to help users build upon their employability and career readiness skills.
The Career Platform’s introductory video reviews the seven key competencies that support career readiness, as identified by the National Association of Colleges and Employers: critical thinking, oral and written communication, teamwork, information technology application, leadership, professionalism, and career management skills. The Career Center is pleased to be working with faculty in promoting this new tool to all students.
