Stefany Moncada

Center for Academic Retention and Enhancement (CARE)

Stefany Moncada, Assistant Director, Student Engagement & Wellbeing for CARE, manages QUEST Scholars Program and the Take CARE Initiative. She serves as both a direct program advisor to students and supervisor of professional staff for the programs.

In the words of her nominators, "Stefany has built the QUEST Scholars program from the ground up since its inception in 2022. She spends late nights and early mornings in Thagard, where she will never turn down a student seeking her advice or a listening ear. Under her guidance, the program has grown from a mere 200 to over 1200 students. Her students speak of how comfortable they are talking with her."
"One of her most impactful contributions to the department is the TakeCARE initiative, which she thoughtfully designed using the Nine Dimensions of Wellness to intentionally support both CARE students and department staff in prioritizing their wellbeing as a foundation for personal, academic, and professional success. Stefany is widely recognized as a leader within the department—she consistently steps in to support colleagues, problem-solve, and share her expertise. Her deep institutional knowledge, creativity, and willingness to mentor make her an invaluable resource for seasoned staff, new hires, and colleagues stepping into new roles. Beyond her formal responsibilities, Stefany routinely goes above and beyond by building strong collaborations with campus and community partners, resulting in expanded opportunities and critical resources that directly benefit our nearly 4,000 current CARE students."
