About Us
This aim of this group is to build community, share resources, and provide connection and mutual support for DSA parents.
Activities & Goals:
- We organize playground meet-ups and other social events, and share collective resources via teams, such as childcare, camp planning, or upcoming family-friendly local events.
Co-Leads will organize 1 event per semester for families to attend as they see fit, and welcome all members to take initiative on planning and resource sharing.
What interested you in this group?
"Being a parent presents unique joys and challenges to my life that are best embraced through community, and it is important for me to feel like my workplace offers that community space. However, being a parent can also be isolating and make it difficult to prioritize building community. It was important for me to create a space to foster this for myself and others."
How has this group influenced your life?
"Just this groups existence makes me feel more empowered to let my parenthood be part of my identity as an FSU employee, and for that to be celebrated too! To be able to know and connect with other parents here that can share this experience together is valuable."
What do you hope people get out of this group?
"I hope that people find a sense of community and support, big or small, and feel ownership to shape their involvement in this group however it bests supports them. This is not meant to just be one more thing to add your plate - so I hope members feel empowered to be as active as feels right for them!"

What interested you about this activity?
"Interest in getting to know other parents at FSU and to learn more about family/kid friendly events in town."
How has this group influenced your life?
"Nice to meet other working parents and learn about how they juggle work and childcare responsibilities in a way that builds a sense of belonging and community at FSU."
What do you hope people get out of this group?
"I hope that this group can provide resources and opportunities. I prefer teams messages/ announcements with optional meet-ups where working parents can drop in for support and connection but not feel like this is another chore they have to get to that contributes to stress. I hope this is a safe and supportive space for busy working parents. This is what you make it - you can participate as much as you want or as little as you want so that membership adds value to your life but not any unnecessary stress."
