Creating a New Group

Process for New Group Creation

1. See what groups already exist and discover what potential new groups are coming
2. Find individuals to co-lead group
3. Understand DSA expectations of groups once they have been created
4. Fill out the new group creation interest form
5. Once approved, fill out SIG About Us form that will provide information to be included on your group's web page

Expectations for Groups

• Monthly involvement: commit to at least one social event per month.
• Timely contact: group leads are responsible for contacting individuals who express interest in joining the group.
• When leads are notified of an individual wanting to join, individual expressing interest will receive a personal 1-1 contact from a lead, and the lead will add them to the group if they haven't already joined.
• Co-leads are required to fill out SIG About Us Form that includes information that will be featured on the website.
• Compliance with work-appropriate standards.
